Romulus's story
Meet Romulus, a Baladi Street Dog who, along with his brother Remus, came over from Egypt the end of May.
These two brothers were living a life of abuse and neglect on the dangerous streets of Cairo, until they were rescued by the Egyptian Society for Mercy to Animals. Once old enough, they traveled to Chicago to join BAARKs Rescue & Adoption Program.
The boys were absolutely terrified of people when they arrived. Slowly Romulus has become more confident, friendly toward and trusting of people. Remus on the other hand is still very scared of people and prefers his dog friends. Romulus and Remus are NOT a bonded pair. They each enjoy the company of many other dogs within their foster family.
Romulus is now eager and ready to move along to his forever home. He would do best with a family with another dog or two, who understands his background and is able to provide patience and unconditional love to him. A secure fenced yard would be on Romulus wish list, as would obedience training so he could evolve into a perfect little gentleman and enjoy the training experience as a means of bonding with his new family.
Romulus is about a year old, weighing 38 lbs. He is fully vettedup to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, neutered and microchipped.
